Can Physical Activity Boost Your Kid’s Academic Performance?

Don’t you just hate it when your child wants to play outdoors instead of studying for his test?
Well, here is one good reason you should encourage your kiddo to take a break from him textbooks and run a bit outside.
Yesterday, we learned that kids who have a positive outlook got higher test scores. Today, it’s all about getting your child’s heart rate up.
According to Independent.ie, a review of past researches found that exercise has a positive impact on a child’s academic performance.
Researchers believe this is because physical activity:
- increases oxygen and blood flow to the brain
- lowers stress thereby improving mood
- helps the brain create nerve cells
- rewires neurons
Keep this research in mind the next time your kiddo wants to take a breather from studying. After all, a quick run around the yard may actually do him some good – oh you know, like help him ace that test tomorrow.

I think this is dead on, and actually makes perfect sense.

Now the kids have scientific research to back them up if we don’t allow them to play. Thanks for dropping by, Courtney.
