Virtual Childbirthing Software to Decrease Emergency C-Sections

Giving birth? Did you know that emergency c-sections have a higher mortality rate, 7 times to be exact, than planned c-sections?
This is according to Dr. Olivier Ami, an obstetrician at Antoine Béclère’s Hospital, Université Paris Sud, France.
I am not trying to cause additional anxiety for pregnant mothers here. Instead, I am trying to create more awareness on the issue.

What is Predibirth?
It is a new software that predicts the likelihood of expectant moms encountering difficulties in child birth. But unlike a crystal ball which sees into the future, Predibirth simulates the birthing process using 3D images and of course, possible paths the fetus will take as it tries to free itself from the womb.
Doctors say that childbirth is a complex process. Because a woman’s birth canal is nearly the size of the infant’s head, the child has to carefully maneuver itself to enter the world. A single mistake in positioning or timing is what causes delivery problems.
What is the value of the software? Ever heard the saying knowing is half the battle? Planned C-sections are preferred since doctors are more prepared to address any complications. The goal is to decrease unplanned C-sections to make birthing safer for both mother and baby.
I hope to see this software implemented in most, if not all, hospitals and clinics around the world. This should give expectant moms more reassurance and less worries.
