Track Everything About Your Baby Using this App

During the first year of your child’s life, you take note of everything about her. Why shouldn’t you? You want to immortalize her first smile, first giggle and first unintelligible syllable along with others firsts. You also keep tabs on her feeding habits, nap times, poop frequency and other important health-related information.

I used to scribble these on a tiny notebook. But this was years ago. Luckily, in the age of smartphones and tablets, there are several apps that easily allow you to keep track of information.

MakeUseOf.com recently featured an app called Baby Connect. It helps parents record important milestones and information of their children. Here are some great features that I would have loved to use when my child was a newborn:

• Keep track of feeding patterns (amount, duration & frequency)
• Keep track of medicinal intake (useful when the baby is sick. I had to mentally note how many times I gave medicine.)
• Record babies weight and height
• Note sleeping habits
• Note any change in pee or poop color & consistency (useful during doctor visits)
• Note major milestones such as first “goo” or “gaa” uttered (useful for bragging)

This parenting tool allows multi-users so mom, dad and other caregivers can input data in a single location. Have more than one child? Baby Connect can store data of other children as well.

Other features that incorporate how technology is used today are:

• Sending information to email and downloading this to excel
• Sharing baby moments with friends & family on Twitter
• Push notifications (dad going on a business trip? This alerts him of anything that’s happening, i.e. her first cute sneeze.)
• Messaging within the app

My favorite feature is data viewing through charts. I used to manually plot my child’s daily milk intake on paper to see if he was getting enough. With Baby Connect, you can easily view patterns without the hassle I went through.

I love how technology makes parenting  a little bit easier. No need to carry around a tiny notebook, unless you shy away from technology and prefer the old school way.
